Something about Arts + Music Travel

Milos Curik ( 1947 ) – independent art consultant, professional touristic guide ( Prague/Czech Republic/Central Europe ) and tour operator, art collector, World traveller.

Studied theory of culture and aesthetics at the Philosophical faculty of the Charles University in Prague. I was a managing director of the Jazz and Rock Music Centre in Prague which I established in 1974, Labyrinth Multimedia Art Centre and Film Centre. I also worked as a dramaturgist of very influential cultural organization the Jazz Society, organizing concerts of the local and foreign avantgarde music bands some of whom were banned by the communist regime ( e.g. a memorable concert of Nico, former singer of the Velvet Underground ). For many years during communism I travelled all over the country with my art shows playing rare music discs and tapes, showing interesting documentary films, reading poetry and non-fiction etc. Those productions were visited and appreciated by big crowds of young people which led inevitably to me being interrogated and oppressed by the Secret police, loosing a job, being refused a permit to travel abroad etc. My various activities are well documented in many books and magazines.

I started to freelance as a touristic guide in 1979 and founded my own Arts + Music Travel in 1992. In my guiding and creating custom-tailored itineraries I focus on history, architecture, visual art and music ( both historic and contemporary ).
